We made it home around 1130 today. We travelled through the night. As we reflect on this year, this team was special. We not only worked and served together, we became very close friends. It’s amazing how 13 people can draw close together as we come to depend upon one another. Each team member brought [...]

Well, we did it! We wrapped up out construction project just in time to run our last carnival and serve one more meal. We probably served well over 350 adults and children a hot meal and remarkably never dropped a plate. It’s very difficult to put into words what this team experienced this week. We’ve [...]

After my meeting with the elderly man and while we waited for the rest of the team to arrive, I moved eight 42 lb bags of concrete mix from our secure area to the area were our local concrete team was mixing. Then I accompanied the leader of the community’s daughter up the street to [...]

Mr. Boyd and I were the first of our construction crew to arrive! We beat the rest by 20 to 25 minutes. Jim claims the hardware store took a long time but I believe I saw some Krispy Kreme crumbs on his chin! One of our prayers before we left was for God to open [...]

It’s probably time to make a note of distinction for this team. This year the team had three firsts. We had the whole Central Church at our disposal because the former District Supervisor was promoted and then moved to Lima, Peru. The team was responsible for preparing all of our own meals; except our Wednesday [...]

We held our second carnival and community fellowship meal on Monday at Florencia. The children were well mannered once again and very excited to see us. Frazer’s mission team carnival and meals is a highlight of their year; almost like Christmas to our children. What a site! Following the carnival we served approximately 150 plates [...]

Last year the team tiled two Sunday school rooms, hauled a stack of adobe brick from the back of the church to the street, broke the brick into small pieces, poured landscape dirt over the pieces, and planted some flowers and small vegetation. Pastor Jose built a garden were the brick had been and moved [...]

We awake to the Rooster crowing from one of the adjacent buildings and chopping of onions and peppers from the kitchen. The kitchen crew worked in perfect unison with the Rooster . . . Rooster crow . . . WHOP . . . the knife struck the cutting board. It’s an interesting alarm clock. We [...]

In our previous post, we mentioned going with Pastor Martin and his house church mission team to El Milagro. El Milagro means the Miracle but at first glance it is the farthest thing from a miracle. At least based upon American standards, words, or at least my words, cannot begin to describe what we saw. [...]

Whoever coined the phrase “WOW” must have visited the children of Milagro!!! These children have so little but yet give so much and so freely. If I got one hug, I got a hundred. I know we are here to help them and to share God’s love with them but I believe maybe, just maybe [...]
